The first thing you must do in order to begin hunting for fossils is buy an Excavation Kit from the Basic Items section of the PokeMart. It's expensive, but well worth it, considering what you can find. When going on a dig, all you have to do is make a post saying that you are digging around to find a fossil. In this post, perform a 10-sided die roll. How successful your dig is depends on what it is you roll;

Additionally, you are able to search for a random Z-Crystal that is not available as a gym reward during your mining endeavors. Remember, Z-Crystals can only be traded to other players for other Z-Crystals and can not be traded in for any cash rewards.
