The Boole City training grounds were certainly as noisy as expected. The large enclosed fields were full of trainers and their Pokémon working together to achieve a variety of self-set objectives. To see so many different rigorous exercises and how energetic and focused everyone seemed to be aroused a nervous chuckle out of Elaine. Her uncle had advised her to get some practice in at the grounds before heading out into the field, but she couldn't help but feel out of her element. She was a novice who had only just received her starting Pokémon surrounded by people who had been trainers for months or years. Not only that, but her last bit of practical practice back in Kalos had been months ago. What if she made a fool of herself? Her violet eyes eventually returned to the Cubone standing in front of her. The small ground type was fidgeting impatiently as it waited for instructions from its trainer. It seemed that being around so much activity had gotten it riled up to partake. ”Alright, I guess we should get started.” the trainer sighed. Nervous or not, they only had a limited amount of time to use the fields and she wasn't going to just up and leave after waiting in line to get in. Several quick taps of the touch screen terminal at the edge of her area cause several training dummies to rise from the floor. Though the dummies were made of fragile materials, they had targets on a handful of parts that made them good for either target or general practice. ”Let's just get acquainted with your moves for now. Use Bonemerang on the first dummy.” the trainer ordered. The ground type nodded and drew back its weapon. After a moment to take aim, it snapped its arm forward and let its weapon fly towards the dummy. The twirling bone tore straight through the dummy's center target without much resistance. Elaine's eyes lingered on the gaping hole left behind for a few moments. Hopefully, these targets wouldn't be indicative of what would happen in a real battle. ”Well done. Next, try using Double-Edge on the next target.” The duo's training continued on in a simple fashion. Elaine studied her Pokemon's movements carefully as she instructed it to perform its attacks in a variety of ways. No matter what she threw at it though, the Cubone was able to carry out its orders. Even more complicated maneuvers like a spinning backhand Bonemerang toss hit its mark, though its lack of combat skill showed in the difficulty it had executing some of its maneuvers. Even so, the creature had left its trainer impressed by the end of their training period. ”You did well, Lambert. Thank you.” Elaine praised as they left the field. The Cubone returned the appreciation with a soft coo and a small smile formed on the trainer's lips. She still had apprehensions about beginning her journey. The world was big and she was inexperienced. Even so, her Pokémon's effort in training had helped alleviate some of those fears and further stirred her excitement to finally start her travels. | 522 words tags notes ----- ------- ------- |
